Self-coloured red pearlscales (but with a transparent edge to the caudal fin), with rather a flat dorsal contour but with good, round bodies (best illustrated in the reflection, left). Photographed at GSGB 2009.
Calico fish with less than fully round bodies and the typical orange and white colouration of most British pearlscales. These are breeders' teams of four fish bred in the current year (2008); the tails will enlarge slightly with maturity. Photographed at BAS 2008.
Pearlscales presented at BAS 2018 (photographs by Mário Barros). The left-hand fish would ideally have more black markings, and the right-hand fish has a slight flattening of the dorsal contour where the dorsal fin begins.
